Adventures in Learning
A Good Idea
Description
Adventures in Learning (AL) is a volunteer-led program at Shepherd's Center Central that is geared toward mid-life and older adults who want to continue learning, become engaged in the community, and make new friends. This ten-week program offers a variety of classes, speakers and activities for adults aged 50 and older. Volunteer-members do everything from planning the programs, registering attendees, setting the tables at lunchtime, and leading classes. Curriculum is multifaceted and includes topics such as education, history, culture, and the environment. Blood pressure checks are also provided during the program once a month at no extra charge.
